Call to Action on School Funding - 1/27/2020
Dear Urban School Leaders:
In preparation for IASB's lobby day tomorrow, for local conversations at home, or for phone calls or emails to your legislators this week as they prepare to discuss the increase in the State Cost Per Pupil, we hope this analysis will be helpful.
First, it includes 3 simple talking points why 2.5% as the Governor recommends and why the 3.75% we are requesting is better. Includes link to the ISFIS New Authority Report so you can compare 2.5% with 3.75% for your district.
Second, there is some detailed analysis with economic benchmarks for comparison.
Third, there is a sample budget increase at 3.7% for a school district with a $10 million general fund budget. This assumes no enrollment increase or decrease for that district.
