Education Reform:

SF 2284 created several Task Forces to study education reform issue over the Interim. Many of their final reports are due mid-October.

The Teacher Leadership and Compensation Task Report has been released with eleven recommendations. The report is the culmination of seven months of consensus-based work by the task force, made up of 25 education stakeholders representing teachers, principals, superintendents, education associations, school boards, the Iowa Department of Education and higher education.

Federal Sequestration:

The AASA published their findings, explaining the impact of federal sequestration on school budgets. Contact Congress and let them know the financial impact, if the sequestration is allowed to go through, will be devastating for students and result in job losses for schools.
